2015 Update - Part Two
Front of the slot showing the bottom mast step fitting in place. Note the preference for a double ended rigging screw to adjust the bottom mast
bearing cup, two times quicker then a single screw fitting. Four full turns moves the mast bearing cup 10mm.
Rod welded
across the rigging screw barrel to make it
easier to turn.
Cockpit end of the slot. Bottom of the slot is 80mm above the cockpit floor and the bottom of the tapered drainage channel, 20mm.
New deck glued and glassed on.
Having once sailed (and turned it turtle a few times) a Mk3 Marten, from experience we know that
a Finn with a slot as built here floats high in the water. Forward
buoyancy ensures this. So wont have need for a hatch cover over the slot. Bit more weight saved.
Nearing the end of the odyssey, view the 2016 Update.
Well, that is the 2015 upgrade finished.
